New pool build completed late last August, so I never really got the hand of the pool chemistry before we had to close it for the winter in mid-October. Opened the pool about a month ago.

According to my Intellichem my ORP levels have been really low for a while and my IC-40 has not been able to get the FC levels up. Also, my PH was high (8.3) so I first used muriatic acid to drop the pH to around 7.2. I think it measured 7.26 once it stabilized. Then a couple of days ago I "shocked" the pool with 3 gals of liquid chlorine from the pool supply store. The next morning the water was crystal clear and ORP levels increased but didn't get over 600 and were already declining, and a manual test of the water using my K-2005 kit showed basically 0 FC and 0 TC, i.e. the water in the tube was clear, I could tell it was a little pink if I looked in from the top.
So last night I tried shocking it with Pool Essentials 4-in-1 Shock Treatment powder. Four bags based on 1 bag per 10,000 gallons. This morning water is still crystal clear but again a manual test shows 0 FC and 0 TC. It was almost a discernible pink this time. and a little darker pink if i look in through the top.

Is something eating my Chlorine that fast?? Is my Intellchem AND my K2005 kit bad? Kit was provided by the pool builder the day they opened the pool after the build in late August so the kit is less than a year old.
