So, our pool was closed for three years and we decided to reopen it. Had to replace our pump and our o-ring on our DE filter (had a professional install the pump and my daughter and I tackled the filter o-ring with success after watching videos lol). I've shocked and skimmed and shocked, got clear, turned green and skimmed and shocked oh and backwashed a gazillion times in between....then decided I should hand vac some of that sludge out because I was not winning this war. So, I turned my hayward vari flo valve to waste and proceeded to "hand vac". We only got about 1/2 done when I decided we should probably stop and let it all settle to the bottom again. Well, when I went to put the valve back to filter and it won't turn! Logic tells me that maybe something is clogging it and preventing it from turning, but I really don't know. So my questions are, can a control valve become clogged? If so, is it something I can fix myself with limited tool availability? Or, is this Dang thing broken? LOL
