Stuck skimmer lid during hot summer, how to unstick?

During the summer my skimmer lid will get stuck in place. Normally there are a few solutions that get it up, but for the past week I have been unsuccessfull.
1. Splash pool water up on it
2. Cold hose water for a few minutes on it
3. Let ice melt in cold water, pour cold water on it
4. Lay ice cubes in a pile all over it and allow to melt.

All of these have failed me. Any other ideas to get the lid open? Screwdriver jammed in just damages and breaks the plastic.

My skimmer covers also stuck, and what I did was use the cold water method (it takes some patients) and then once they were off, I filed the lids so that they would not stick again.
