Starting the cleanup process from Harvey.. lost my house but want to clean the pool

Well I am in bellaire and we got hit bad from Harvey.. over 48" of water in a short period of time.. I lost my new house.. so I am slowly planning to rebuild..

But since we flooded.... and I have only had a pool for 1 year I am a newbie and have not recovered from anything like this..

So what should I do with my pool? I ran the skimmer in there all day to remove all that stuff at the bottom of the pool... I also super/super/super shocked the pool. I did not want to start the pump until I made sure everything was working.. so I probably will run it tomorrow.

So should I try to re-balance everything.. or wait until the ground drys (who knows when that will be) then purge all that water (I know/read about hydrostatic pressure and all).. or will high levels of chlorine be enough to kill off everything... good thing is I do not have gators or snakes in my pool like some people in bellaire.

Hi, welcome to TFP! I'm sorry about your house. I am assuming your pump was underwater, so it is probably not safe to try to run. Water may be trapped in the motor casing. If the water is still clear you can add a large bottle of plain unscented bleach every day and brush the pool to mix it in. Take pictures of everything on the equipment pad for your insurance/FEMA claim. Even the blackest swamp water can be cleaned without dumping using TFP methods.

Please take a minute to add your pool equipment to your signature so we can advise you better.

So since the pool was underwater and there was about 1-2 feet of flood water that potentially carried sewage and other contaminants, it should be okay with leaving that water in there.. I got my water to be nice and clear for the most part.. but can it be healthy will all that organic stuff that went in there?

I was in Meyerland yesterday, Hiluxsurf, and it's downright ugly. Wishing you a lot of luck in getting everything taken care of! post a pic of your pool so everyone knows what they are dealing with ...also, please add all your particulars to your signature line so the experts can help you.
