To save some money we rented a machine and are doing the initial excavation ourselves. We have a couple hours left and thankfully so far we have not run into any major issues. We have the pool pretty much dug out and now are just doing the 4' clearance around it. The installer will level up to 3" for free so that is our goal. Anyway, hubby (who is not really on board with this whole thing to begin with) started asking questions that I just cannot answer. Hoping some of you can help.
1. QUESTION 1 - Rain water Concern - Our yard is a gradual slope going towards the pool. Our pool is 10' away from our house (code req) and eventually we will build a deck off our screened porch to the pool. This will not be for another year plus till I can save the money for it (gosh this pool is becoming expensive). So for the moment, because we cannot have a deck and because the pool wall is only 25" above ground on the high side of the slope we need to do a 3' surround/ditch/whatever you call it around the pool. So the concern is we have created this level area in the middle of a slope and all the water when it rains will flow towards the pool. Those of you with your pool in a slope/hill, what did you do about water drainage? Do I put in a drain? We will need to do a retaining wall on the left side of the pool as we are digging down about 29" to level with the low side. This will put us level with the screened porch floor (yay). Another option since our pool is semi-inground compatible is to back-fill up to 27" on the one side so the water hopefully flows around the pool and down the slope. If we do that I have to get the pool safety fencing to meet the wall height code from grade.

QUESTION 2 - Pump/Salt Generator/Outlet placement?
So hubby is going to run the wire from the box out to the porch and then the electrician will take over with the outside work including bonding the pool. While we have the machine we want to dig the trench for the wire running to the outlet (has to be 18" under ground). I know it has to be at least 6' away from the pool but I have no idea where to place the pump/generator/outlet. Here is a diagram of our setup. Eventually we will have a deck off the porch. I would rather not have the equipment right near the porch because I like quiet when sitting there (it is all screen). Where would you put the equipment?

So the pump I have is 115v and the salt water generator is 220v. I know that ideally the pump and generator would be on the same timer so they are on/off together. The generator can be converted to 115v but my electrician said it would be better/cheaper for the install if my pump was 220v. I looked at a couple other ones but they are all 115v. Does anyone have this setup? I would rather not convert the generator so I suppose I have two outlets/timers?
