My pool was uncovered this whole time. The filter was off until I started cleaning on April 1. I have the pool math app and was following it. I was doing the slam levels. But this whole time I couldn’t get it to slam levels.

I finally decided to do double what the slam recommendation is and I finally got it to that level today! But about three hours later and I’ve lost around 10ppm. Is it normal to lose that much so quickly? I have a pool robot bring at least twice a day. I’ve also brushed and gotten out tons of leaves. Pool vacuum no longer has leaves just dirt and some rust. I just got a robot skimmer today that I have running as well.

I used 3ozs of clarifier last night and no difference. It’s blue and cloudy and you can’t see the floor. Should I take a sample to the local pool store?

It didn’t occur to me that it would cause my pool to rust.
Probably because it won't. Did you change all your water too?

As for the SLAM, yes if the water is especially bad it can eat chlorine quickly. If your pool has been uncovered and has a lot of organics in it like leaves then there's plenty in there for the chlorine to kill.

How often are you testing and adding chlorine? Your logs do not show many additions.
You need to test and add at least 3-4x per day. You can do as often as every 2 hours and it will go faster.

First I was doing once a day now yesterday and today I’ve done twice so far. Every time I’ve tested I have added the recommended amount. I’ve only just started adding my additions in the app. So for instance if it said add 3.2 gallons I’d either add 3 or maybe 4 gallons.

Round your CYA up to 60. Enter that in the app.
Add enough to get to 24 FC...which is your slam target.
Adding more will not help.
Adding more OFTEN is going to help. You need to test and add at least 3-4x a day. If you really want to see progress, test and add every 2-3 hours.

It says here add 1 gallon. But should I add 2?
If you are waiting long time after adding chlorine to test it again then that’s the reason you’re not seeming to hitting the target. you actually are probably hitting it but it’s going down quickly.
