Start-up Question

Hey gang,

I’ve decided to open my pool myself this weekend! I am confident in hooking the SWG and getting the filter/pump running, however I see something on my heater that I’ve never seen before. Im wondering if the pool company that closed it left this hanging, can anyone help me out with what and where this piece goes?

Heater drain plug
It should go under the grey union pictured on the left

There should also be another plug on the other side of your heater inside the heater case(box)
There should be a cap about inch in diameter, the drain opening will be behind it

Well that was easy, except for the plug on the filter that’s wedged on the very back side next to a wall .
