This year I found that most of my plastic pins were beginning to deteriorate and that the pool was moving much more than it had before. I decided to replace them all with Stainless hardware. I used Stainless Steel Button Head Hex Drive Screws ( 5/16"-18 Thread Size, 2-1/4" Long ) and nylon locking nuts from McMaster-Carr. This worked out perfectly! Held tight, not flexing, and no movement whatsoever!! Photo1 Photo2

Good idea! I suggest, though, that you take a wire brush to those rust spots then spray them with Rustoleum rust converter and some paint before they get bigger...
