Staining

Not sure if I am posting this is the right spot. I tried used absorbic acid for a stain in my deep end. I left the sock on it for about an hour and now the plater is discolored a dark gray color. Did I take the plaster off the bottom of the pool? Any advice on what to do?

If the stain gets darker when applying AA to it, that is typically an indication of copper staining. If it were iron, the stain would lift and the plaster would “brighten” up.

The stain was a yellow color before. What should I do now? Any suggestions?

You need to ID the stain. Perhaps use the Jacks Magic ID kit.

Have you used any pool products that contain copper?

Do you fill with well water or city water?

Do you get the same staining around the rest of your home specifically on sink fixtures or toilet bowls?
