Good afternoon folks, new to the forum but have been lurking for months in anticipation of spring. Happy to have finally joined.

I'm in Canada. Pool was swimmable in the fall. Drained 50% of the water and did mild shock prior to close. No winter cover so had lots of leaves/needles in water over winter. Green water.

Cleaned out all the leaves and needles with a Blue Devil leaf bag and then manual vac. Filled with city water. Going to SLAM now.

FC 0
CC 0
pH PURPLE Well over 8.0
TA 175ppm
CH not tested
CYA 0
Salt 1700ppm

I'm going to add 111oz of stabilizer. And 9 gallons of liquid bleach per the pool math tool.

Do i need to be concerned about the high TA and high pH at this point?

Thanks everyone!

Drop your pH to 7.2 bring your stabilizer up to around 30ppm and SLAM that mean green pool.

If you want a good read, check out my current thread "First SLAM in 10+ Years" in this forum. My pH was really high too.

Good luck and post daily pics!

That thread was entertaining and motivating! I went a little overboard on the acid and had to add some soda ash. One more test tonight and I'll have pH set for tomorrow.
What resonated with me as the most beneficial thing you can do is get rid of all the organic material prior to treating. I don't know anything about pools but that seems like a point that is really important and saves time & money. So thank you all for that.
