Long story short, I plumbed a new (used, but new to me) filter into my setup. It's been sitting for about a year outside. It's a Pentair cartridge filter, model in sig. I did all this to move the equipment to the side of the house with 2" PVC ran underground. Well, I figured I would have some dirt which I did and was able to vacuum out.

The issue is that the pool instantly had a green tint to it, then throughout the day it only got more green. It's so odd, I tested FC and it's at 4 down from 14 this morning (coming off of shocking, did the oct last night all was great, tested at 14.5 last night) Had tons of kids in the pool. This morning water was crystal clear, now all green?

Water is still clear to the bottom, again just green tint.

I cleaned the cartridge filter as per TFP guide last year when I got it, then put it back in the shell and taped off the inlet / outlet. Admittedly, I did not open the cartridge filter to look inside before I plumbed it in and turned everything on.

I'm not sure where to begin? Suggestions, steps, .....?? Thanks guys.

If it's clear as gin but green, it's probably metals of some type. One way to check is to do an OCLT. If you lose more than 1ppm you probably have algae. If you don't, then it's probably metal of some type.

So is it not the water but maybe the liner? Wow that would make sense because I can still see the bottom. Here are my levels as follows;

FC - 4
pH - 7.6
CYA - 30
TA - 80

I had a mild metal issue last year, but nothing like this. I guess the used filter I got was full of them? I'll try to rub some citric acid on the side in the am and see if that clears a spot. Man, if this is metals, I've never seen anything like it!

So at this point this post is in the wrong section. But since I'm here, here's what I'm going to do.

I'm lowering pH from current 7.6 to 7.2 to see if that changes anything. I have sequestriant ready to go if it works. If that clears the water then I guess I'll just have to be more diligent about keeping pH lower.

Unless any other suggestions, that's where I'm at.
