spa water level drops

I have a pool /spa combo where the spa water feeds the pool. The last few weeks, inconsistently (as it seems to happen every few days) the water in the spa drops alot after I have run the filter. The pool is fine. Based on what I am reading online, it seems like a check valve issue. Please let me know, as per the pics, which one I am suppose to look at (i.e. I seem to have both a black jandy valve (next to the skimmer & pump) and then a white jandy valve (as per the pic). I also noticed now that the black valve does not seem to have a knob on it (not sure if that can be a issue). Thank you, Gary

bks,

Neither of those two valves is a check valve which will not have any type of handle.

It "might" be on the pipe leading out of the valve towards the top of your gray Jandy valve picture.

What is on the pipe leading into the ground??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Can someone please confirm if this is a check valve. If I can read it correctly, it says something like "s10-burbank oz". How easy are these things to remove? I guess it may need to be cleaned or could be damaged (requiring replacing) but I presume this is causing the problem for my low water level in the spa? Thanks

bks,

Yes, that is what I saw in the first picture, but was not sure from the camera angle.

Just unscrew it and look inside. May just need to be cleaned out. Worst case you can just put it back in the way it is.

Assuming cleaning does not fix it, I would replace with a Jandy style check valve... https://www.sunplay.com/pentair-cpvc-check-valve-263042

Is that metal or PVC pipe in the ground???

Thanks,

Jim,

I am a little confused. Is this not the check valve (circled in red). As the part you recommending, does not fit here - It would fit that other part with the handle? (i.e. right image in my previous email)? Thanks, Gary
The pipe in the ground is PVC.

Gary,

The item you circled in red is your current check valve. If you can repair it great. I suspect that you will not be able to find a replacement, but it would be worth looking.

The check valve I recommended would require you to cut the old valve out and re-plumb to install the new valve..
