Hi All,

I have a 25K gallon in ground pool with raised spa (unsure of size of spa) and my heater went - so I'm looking for replace.

Currently in there now is a Pentair MasterTemp 400 - I've been looking around online at reviews and have seen mixed for both.

I really don't heat the pool so I'm ok with going with a slightly smaller heater just for the spa.

What would you recommend? I've seen pentair and raypak - are there other brands i should look at?

Thanks in advance
Henry

Raypak. All of heater experts speak glowingly of it. It’s not a forced-air type heater but more like a water heater with a burner tray. So there are fewer moving parts and they tend to be less expensive to repair. One caveat is that you need to ensure good placement and may need to have a vent properly sized and installed to ensure it meets building-code specs. If it is installed outdoors, high winds can sometimes cause flame roll out problems but Raypak sells a special outdoor vent kit to help avoid that.

Smaller just equals slower to reach setpoint. As long as you don’t need the spa heater in short order, it should be fine to go smaller
