Spa Jets and Returns

I am wondering with a pool/spa combo operating on one pump if the spa jets are used as returns when the pool is in pool mode? I get that in spa mode jets are used to create the therapy bubbles. Does every pool/spa combo have at least one dedicated return line to the spa when in pool mode or can the return water come through the jets? I am just curious.

Welcome to the forum.

An integrated spa can use a single pump (like mine) or two pumps. If I wish to run the Spillover (suction from pool and return to spa) I do that and the returns come out the spa jets. I have just 6 jets so a single pump is sufficient.

Many pool builders do not understand the concept of Spillover and using automation to maintain the spa water. They plumb in a make up line that sends water to a dedicated return or the spa jets all the time. This drives up pH and is discouraged here on TFP.
