Solve a Mystery?

I have had a 28,000 gallon vinyl liner pool chlorine pool for six seasons with no major issues following the trouble free pool system. I only use the basic chemicals to balance.

This year, I couldn’t close the pool because of an injury to my thumb and had a big job getting it cleaned up. It’s been a work in progress for about 3 weeks.

I now have everything balanced, but the water is still cloudy. It’s like a white haze. I slammed once and I think I may have come up short. So, I slammed it again and this time kept the PPM up for an extra night even after it held overnight. There should not be any algae in the pool at all. Yet, it is still cloudy.

I have also disassembled my sand filter to make sure everything in there looked clean.

I have a memorial day party on Monday and I’m at my wits end. I will post my current test results below. Can anyone help with something that perhaps I’m not thinking of?

Chlorine: 14 ppm (Still coming down off SLAM)
pH: 7.6
Alkalinity: 85
Stabilizer: 50 ppm
Calcium Hardness: 300

You may wish to add some DE to your sand filter. It helped me out after a SLAM last year.

I have never needed to do this, so I was unfamiliar with it. I will pick some up and try it. Thank you for the suggestion!

Also, if it’s cloudy then the SLAM is supposed to continue. Keep it going until it’s crystal clear.
