SLAM Process - Chlorine Staying High

Unless you can replace your water with iron free water you will have to add sequestrants on an ongoing basis after the AA treatment.

Thank you! I think I will first try polyfill. Have you heard of Culator? If possible, I’d like to avoid sequestrants unless absolutely necessary. I think that’s what got us into our algae mess last year, and it was not a good experience 😕

CuLator is a waste of time and money...I can't tell you the number of users/threads without success. For the polyfill to work, the iron needs to be in suspension. Sequestrants (quality ones) will not cause algae. Lack of FC for your CYA will cause algae.

Yeah we tried it in August, which I don’t think was a good time to go without FC. Maybe I’ll scrub the pool by hand with vitamin C to release the iron, haha.

Larger amounts of vitamin c will consume the fc. Just like with the AA treatment.
So be watchful.
Aiming for colder water (60’s or below) to deal with the stains is a good idea - also sure your bets with polyquat 60 when the time comes. I’m planning on doing that this fall/winter myself.

Do the polyfill now while you’re at slam level & the iron is possibly “showing itself” & see what you catch!
It’s really the only way to actually get most of the iron out. Then deal with the stains after its cooler.
