“SLAM level” is not computing in my brain…

I’m sure this has been asked already but I’ve searched & searched… I’m getting ready to complete my 1st slam because we have both green AND black algae. I just received my TF-100 and had to get the CYA tested at Leslie’s because the CYA test tube just didn’t work for me. I tried it 2x and I could see the black dot after dumping all the solution in. Had it tested on 6/1 and again today. 36 1st time, 37 today. My confusion is with the ‘Slam level’. For the life of me, I can’t grasp what this means. The FC/CYA tool says my Slam Level should be 16. Does this mean I need to add liquid chlorine to keep my FC at 16 until such time that I meet the requirements to finish? I also don’t understand how to use Pool Math to help me determine how much chlorine to add to get to that level (if this is the case), and how much to purchase. After adding my results to the app, I clicked on the FC box. In the purple ‘Target Free Chlorine’, I clicked on SLAM and added 16 but then it says, “Your target is outside the recommended range!” Thank you in advance. :)

Dont trust the store CYA tests, they can be really bad.
If you filled up the CYA tube and can still see the dot, that just means your CYA is lower than 30ppm. You can add 10ppm CYA and assume its 40ppm for the SLAM.

That little warning message is just telling you that SLAM level chlorine is higher than normal levels which is fine. The amount of chlorine you need to add is right at the bottom of the screen, you may need to scroll to see it.
