Hello, I let my pool turn green and have been working on SLAMing the pool for the past week. It is a bit harder with the Quad DE - I did a deep cleaning of filter couple of days back, but looks like I'll need to repeat 2-3 times as the filter keeps getting clogged likely with dead algae. On top of it, I don't have a multi-port valve (MPV) installed, and don't have ability to vacuum to waste. The color has come from dark green, to cloudy blue, and the latest measurements are:
FC: 17
CC: 1.0
PH: 7.0
TA: 100
CH: 490
CYA: 40

I'm planning to have someone come and install MPV in next few days to allow me to vacuum the dead algae. I also bought a CircuPool RJ 45 SWG. I'm wondering if it is OK to install the SWG generator now, while I'm still SLAMing, or should I wait until the pool is all clear? Thanks!

There is nothing technically wrong with installing the SWG. It I was installing the SWG myself I'd probably wait just to not interrupt the SLAM Process. But if the tech installing your MPV is also the one who would install your SWG, sure. That would make sense. But keep the CYA where it is and don't try to run the SWG during the SLAM. Liquid chlorine is best for the SLAM.

You are in a very similar situation I'm in. I'm pretty much almost done with my SLAM. I have the RJ45+ as well. I was told by a tech at circupool, it's totally fine to have the system plumbed in. As long as it's off and all chemicals are pit in at the return end, NOT the skimmer. He said all is good. Good luck with your SLAM!
