There is a screw at the 12 o’clock and a metal plate against the liner behind the metal rim of the light. Hard to get a good face on picture

Remove that screw, tilt the top out away from the side, and lift.

If it does not tilt easily, then it is this type:

Check in the depths of the skimmer with the baskets out, lots of junk can accumulate there. It can use a good scrubbing it may help.

The light was a cess pool. Any suggestions on how to not have this build up again?

Me again- we’re still battling this with chlorine still falling overnight. The water looks perfectly clear still. There is nothing slimy or dirty anywhere. Is there anything else that could be going on that’s eating our chlorine?

Scrub behind the light again.
Did you remove the main drain covers and scrub in there?
Did you scrub the skimmers?
Did you remove the weir doors and check for algae.

Rescrubbed the lights. Skimmers scrubbed. Main drain covers removed and scrubbed- nothing slimy.

Remove the weir doors? It’s not enough to scrub them attached?

You need to inspect the foam, often they are filled with algae...

Probably just best to replace the weir door. What about behind the steps below the ladder? And do I see a pool cover? That can be a source if you've been using it and it lays on the water.

There is no need to buy new weir doors, the foam can be cleaned in a 10:1 Water:Bleach solution and scrubbed. The foam is a simple replacement with some foam and hot glue.

So they pop apart? I never did that with mine, well I never had to look for a source of algae either, but mine would break so I had to replace them. I now have a spring-loaded one which may or may not come apart.

What do you mean by behind the steps? We have scrubbed the seams of the steps really well. Those don’t come off so they? How do I inspect the bottom of the pool cover?

You can't scrub behind the steps. You should scrub the perimeter of the steps where it meets the liner.
