Had my pump down a few days for service and got some algae. This is the first year using my Taylor kit and slam process. When I opened the pool, everything went fine and had no OCL and let the pool return to normal.
For this recent algae, which seemed yellow to me, I used the CYA/ FC chart to establish what the FC should be. My pretest CYA was at 40.
I added enough chlorine to get to between 16-23 FC and brushed the pool throughly.
My results after the slam:
Ph 8.0.
Cya 40.
Alk 110.
Ch 150.
Fas-dpd
Fc 8.0. 7.5. 5.5. 19.0.
Cc 0.5. 0.0. 0.5 1.0.
When I brushed this morning it looked like I still had clouds of yellow/gold dust coming off the pool floor. I know I have to keep the chlorine high until my CC is 0.5 or less and there is no OCL. Am on on the right track here? I used to use a mustard algae cleaner a few years ago but it just trashed my chlorine counts. Hoping to avoid all that using the TFP method. TIA.
