Background…had to do a pool remodel. New equipment, added some features, got a new mini-pebble surface. The PB handled the startup and handed it over to us after 2.5 weeks. There were no instructions other than it’s ok to resume normal service. There was no chlorine added during that time so I’ve just now started adding. The pool has gotten much much clearer in just two days after getting ph set and chlorine doses. I have noticed that I am losing chlorine quickly. I performed an OCLT last night and lost 1.5ppm, no CC.

Any concern about doing a slam 3 weeks after install?

Any chance this is a really short slam that only takes a day or two in light of having just a little loss, no cc, and water is clear? Length doesn’t really matter to me; it’s just that I am borderline for meeting the criteria.

TF-Pro test kit

FC - 5.5 (this was the AM measurement of the OCLT).
CC - 0 (also the AM measurement of the OCLT)
Ph - 7.6
TA - 80
CH - 425
CYA - 40
Temp - 77

For CYA 40, your FC should be in the 5-7 range with an absolute minimum of 3.
If the pool loses 4 ppm per day, dose a bit higher than 7 so it never gets near the minimum of 3.

How many days/weeks since new plaster?

With white plaster just do the SLAM Process . Bleaching out of your plaster color is not an issue.

Just providing an update…SLAM completed today. Have to admit I thought that I was doing something wrong with having absolutely clear water and chlorine was being used so quickly.

Will now wait for chlorine to drop to normal levels and then take a look at ph and alkalinity.
