Size hose for pool cover pump

This past winter I bought the little gaint pool cover pump. With a garden hose I noticed the actual garden hose would clog on occasion. The pump does have a fitting for a 1" discharge hose.
Should I try the 1" hose and what type. I see where I can buy clear 1" hose or the braided/clear type by the foot.

We just use a regular garden hose. When ours stop running from a clog its usually pine needles in the intake valve, and we just have to UNPLUG, then turn it upside down, open up the disc cover clear it out.

I would get an adapter to get it to 1.25” and connect a check valve and sump pump hose.

I went the extra mile and connect my sump pump hose to a PVC pipe that runs a ways underground then eventually hits a firehose to the street that I roll up.
