That PVC set-up is to keep people from congregating near the skimmer opening and blocking water flow - my only source of pool suction. For some reason everyone loves the skimmer.

Oh, and I can also use it to hang my sock full of stabilizer as needed.

Ah! That makes sense now, good idea. Since my S200 robot climbs, I thought it was to keep it away from there.
