Should we replace our 5 year old pump or just replace the motor?

The motor on our Pentair Superflo 340037 3/4HP pump has stopped working. I found a replacement motor on InyoPools.com. With a new set of seals it would be $250. But they also have a Pureline 1.5HP pump for the same price. Is Pureline a comparable brand? Or would we be better off with the old Pentair with a new motor? We have a 16K gal inground pool with a FNS Plus 24 DE filter with a flow rate 60 gpm, 1 1/2" pipes, approx 40 ft from water to pump. Would changing the HP be an issue with our filter?
 
The pump curves are similar...Pentair is a bit better...see below.

I'd stick with the Superflo. Pentair quality is a better quality. I would get a go-kit in addition to the motor and rebuild the wet end.

For a bit more, you might consider the Calimar 3HP VSP...you will move more water at lower RPM and likely save enough in electrical to pay for the difference in a short amount of time.

First is Pentair, second is Purline, last is the Calimar.

To be clear, the "First is Pentair, second is Purline, last is the Calimar." was in reference to the pump curves.

If it were me, I'd spring for the 3hp Calimar and run at low speed.

+1 for Calimar 3HP VSP. I'm using it on my 25k gallon IG pool. The Calimar replaced a Hayward 1.5HP single speed super pump. The Hayward wasn't broken, I changed it preemptively. I installed the Calimar pump and a Blue-White flow meter from Amazon. As an engineer (grin!) I wanted to know if I was over-driving my filter, pipes, etc. At 2700 RPM's and my config (very low head), I'm getting about 55gpm flow rate thru the 1 1/2" pipes and filter, which is the perfect flow rate for my filter. Flow rates are higher if I put the filter in bypass mode.

The pump was inexpensive enough that it was a no-brainer to get the 3HP AND the extended warranty. I run 2 two-hour periods of 2700 RPM, and 2 nine-hour periods of 700 RPM, and a 2 hour rest period. I'm saving about $50/month on my electric bill as well.

IMHO, the manual doesn't completely describe how to use the control panel, so it took a little trial and error to get to where I understood it, but I'm golden now and very happy with my purchase.

Lower flow rate will save electricity and filter better.

On many VS pumps, running below 1000 rpm has diminished returns (no pun intended) - the pumps become less efficient below 1000 rpm.
