So im getting my pool remodeled and was wondering if any owners out there kept extra materials. I figured i need extra tile but what about coping?

The contractor said they always have extra flagstone they keep. Customer have called in on needed coping repairs after the warranty period and they replace the coping for a fee. He offered to sell me some extra coping if i choose to.

I don't think I understand. You have to pay for extra pieces to keep on hand? My PB left with me the extra tile and coping. There wasn't much, so maybe he would have returned complete boxes for a refund. If so, I would have expected my part of the refund.

I would want tile and coping for just in case.

No it doesnt i checked but she read throught the conract with me and told me that they take the extra becuase they buy more than needed but only charge me for what they install before i signed it.

They were upfront about if from the start. The also said they will provide us with extra tile but no coping unless we buy some.

Has anyone ever bought extra coping or had some provided that they actually used for replacements?

Look at your contract and see if they specified the amount of tile and coping. If it does, and they didn't use all of it, then it belongs to you.

Yeah, buddy!! If my PB had told me that, I would have been taking inventory when it was delivered and installed. Hopefully your guy isn't trying to pull something over on you, but it's worth checking.

Great suggestion and tip on how to check, Tony!

I have all my extra coping and travertine ( with what I paid for my deck I was keeping everything lol). But I also did a contractor/OB so everything stayed in my yard even some of the stuff I didn't need lol.
Having a few extra pieces can never hurt if you need a quick repair down the line. You will have the exact match instead of having to settle for something similar cause they don't make "that style" anymore. If you can tell I speak from experience
