Should I change to VSP?

I'm currently using a very old single speed sta-rite 1HP pump. My concerns with it are the pump is pretty noisy and bears high electrical cost. My breaker panel shows 2KW when the pump is on.

My pool is about 20K Gal, has a SPA which is about 2 feet above the pool thus needs to maintain a small water fountain. Also have six roof-top solar water heater panels (single story home). I need to run at least 5 hours during summer to heat the water.

In such a case does it really beneficial to change to a latest VSP model? I'm afraid if VSP has to run at it's full speed to maintain the water feature and solar it's probably similarly noisy and power consuming. Any suggestion, please?

Thank you in advance.

Eric, payback on vsp is highly dependent on your location, rate, and use. With that said, even dropping from 3400 rpm to 3000 rpm dramatically cuts consumption by more than 30 % — it’s not a 1:1 relationship.

And in my experience, there’s not much you can’t run at 3000 rpm ;)

a more powerful VSP run at much lower RPM's will certainly save you $$$$ and is more quiet.

check your local power provider if a VSP can earn you power credits or similar...determine what are you actual RPM requirements and for how long, then do the math both ways...good luck, tstex
