shocking after Ascorbic Acid Treatment??

My pool is definitely turning the corner for good! I have been maintaining the shock level, backwashing, brushing, vacuuming all day. It is really clearing up nicely. I can't thank everyone enough for the encouragement. Before TFP I would of taken my water sample to the pool store, spend one hundred dollars and not be as far along as I am now. I am so grateful to the moderators and experts on this website. NO MORE POOL STORES!

My pool is sparkling. My chlorine level dropped 3ppm from 15ppm to 12ppm overnight (it also rained o.25 inches last night). My question is when will it be safe to swim in? We are having a party Thursday night. Should I go ahead and take it back up to shock this morning?

With a CYA of 40, I figure swimming is safe with FC at 15 or lower. Not everyone agrees, but even 15 is a way lower level of active disinfecting chlorine than most indoor public pools use.
