it's not the pipe that concerns me but the french drain pipe that all the water goes to. I live on a island and they require these big drain areas next to the house that they fill and they over time will fill with junk from the gutters and sand from general wash. The backwash with eventually start to fill these up too over time and they wont be easy or cheap to replace. The less sand that goes into that drain system the better. I would even be happy with a inline cartridge filter of some kind that is normally bypassed unless using the vac. I did order a pool cleaning robot with fine filters and will see what that leaves me to deal with.
