Search question(s)

I've been trying to search the forums, and things aren't working the way I'd have hoped/expected. I'm trying to search for words in postings for a particular forum.
I'm viewing the forum and in the search bar type something like: recommend. In the pull-down I choose This Forum. I get results from every forum. Same thing if I choose Threads. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, I can't seem to find any help for the Search function. Does it allow wildcards of any sort, for example? Please point me in the right direction if I'm missing something.
Environment: MacOS Monterey 12.4, Safari 15.5, AdGuard disabled.

Click your mouse in the search bar, then select advanced. When you get there, click on "search threads" at the top. Scroll down the page and you should see this:


Select the forum that you want to search.

Can't help with the wildcards.

Yes! I had just found those. The problem was I had to scroll down the screen when I clicked on "search threads" in order to see the forum names.
