Seam tear in new vinyl liner

We had a new vinyl liner installed (Loop loc) a few months ago and today we noticed about a 2 inch split in the seam in the deep end. I lost about an inch of water overnight last night and this must be the culprit.

Can a seam be patched? Or will a redo be necessary?

We are worried sick, as we didn’t realize until we read the warranty tonight that we were supposed to have “registered” it within 30 days of installation.

Seam separation is one thing that is indisputable warranty coverage. For the most part, warranty can't be denied because you don't register. Extended warranties can have those stipulations, but standard mfg. warranties can't in most instances.

Even though you didn't register it, go ahead and take some good pictures and contact the company and see what they say.

Now to the issue of repairing it. I wouldn't try patching it for a couple of reasons.
1) It's such a new liner.
2) Since the seam is letting go so soon, it's possible that the welding is faulty and may continue to separate.

Now, having said all that. Yes, it's possible to patch the liner at the seam. A good piece of vinyl (preferably from the current liner) and a Boxer glue kit should do it.
