Sand in a DE filter

Howdy y’all.

I recently had the pool patio re-leveled and the contractor had a small accident where some of the paver sand (not polymeric!) got dumped into the water.

At first I was just gonna use my suction-side vacuum to clean it up but started having second thoughts about the DE filter. Will paver base sand (it’s pretty fine-grain) hurt the fabric on the filter grids?

I just replaced the grids and don’t want to do it again!

As long as the grids are fully charged with DE the sand won't hurt the grids. Do not try to vacuum sand without any DE in the filter, that will mess up your grids.
