I've been doing much research here, appreciate all the help from duraleigh and also mas985. I've also found excellent information from ferretbone, who strongly suggested the Triton over the Tagelus, which was my first choice.
I'm now wondering, TR100 or TR140 for a pool I'm guessing at is 18K gallons. The $/filter area work out about the same, but of course the TR140 is that much more expensive. I'm not absolutely objecting to spending more money, if there is a reasonable benefit. I've noticed both have eight laterals, but the 100 has 9 1/8" where the 140 has 12". I just feel that the larger laterals are a major benefit, but yet maybe at the lower pressure running the pump for a longer time it is negated and the 9 1/8" ones work fine. I had first focused on the TR60, but that one has only six laterals at 6 11/16".
The other concern is if the TR140 would get to be too heavy for the cement pad already here. The TR140 needs a lot of sand, closing in on half a ton. I imagine the TR140 would need to be backwashed less often, but when backwashing consists of turning a valve, it doesn't seem to be a huge benefit. I also have found that possibly a pump could be OK for filtering, but not strong enough for backwashing, although I don't think that applies for my situation.
If I have to pick right now, I'm thinking the TR100, but somewhat holding off due to my non-expert status.
