Salt with stain inhibitor?

Was at the local Pinch a Penny the other day and they had two types of salt. The more expensive blue bag said it contained "stain inhibitors". I asked one of the employees what the stain inhibitor was in the blue bag and they said "it inhibits stains". I bought the white bag.

Anyone know more about this?

Sometimes salt contains trace amounts of iron in it and staining can occur. Normally if you use water softener salt, that is fine because softeners are sensitive to iron and so the salt is treated to be low in iron. Standard pool salt should be the same. Adding “stain inhibitors” is nothing more than an attempt to sell salt at a higher price because “who wants stains in their pool?!?!”.

Forget the marketing and just buy plain old pool salt...or, for less money, buy water softener salt.
