Salt vs. granules

I have a salt cell that went bad last year. I switched to granules and 3"pucks. This year seems to be much more work than the salt cell with yellow algae. Does anyone have a recommendation either way. Maybe Im just having bad luck doing the manual mode. We have had a lot of rain.

You've been around a while, so I probably don't need to tell you that solid forms of chlorination are not sustainable. Some add calcium and others add CYA. Too much CYA means you can't maintain enough FC to keep the pool sanitized.

Can you post a full set of test results? You'll likely have to complete the SLAM Process with visible signs of algae.

Replace it with an IC60.

Regardless of chlorination method, you should never have a speck of algae. Keep your FC in the target range for your CYA level at all times. If you currently have algae, run a SLAM.
