Salt Indicator - TrueClear Jandy SWG

Recently had a SWG installed by the local pool company - TruClear Jandy Pro. I don't see any way to tell the salinity level, and I don't see any warning to tell me salt is low. Am I missing something, or do I need to invest in some salt testing supplies? I take my water to the pool store to get tested occasionally, but the report doesn't show salinity.

I asked the pool store guy and he said I should only need to add salt if the indicator on the SWG said salt was low.

hmmmm?

Why are you letting the pool store test your water anyway? ;)

Do you not have one of the Recommended Test Kits?

Yeah I do my own routine testing, but they do free computerized testing and it's so precise, nice to have exact figures every once in a while. They are good people there - they suggest bleach as a sanitizer which judging from these forums, is pretty un-heard of for pool companies. Gave me a veteran discount on the labor for the pool liner replacement, and the SWG install.

Just because there are a bunch of decimal places in the numbers does not mean they are correct ... or even repeatable. Do not believe that they are "exact".

We see all the time how unreliable and unrepeatable pool store testing is ... not worth the gas to go there and let them do it.

They've always confirmed exactly what i thought my levels were, so I guess my experience has been different. That being said, I do my own testing 90 percent of the time anyways and won't be changing that practice :)

The display will say “Lo Tmp/Lo Salt” when the water conductivity drops too low.

The conductivity is measured by the amps or the signal from the plates to the gas trap sensor.
