Salt Cell problems and going out of town

All,

I have been using TFP for many years, and this week hitting an issue...

My salt cell or sensor (Jandy aqua pure system) seems to be malfunctioning (service code 194).

Currently my pool is in decent shape, and as best I can tell I caught this problem before the FC dropped below 4.5ppm.

I'm going to be leaving town for a week soon, and don't think I can get the cell and/or sensor replaced/serviced by then.

Current numbers are:
pH 7.4
FC 4.5
CC 0.5
TA 40
CYA 50
CH 800

I keep the pool warm, so it's normally between 85-90F.

I have got a few days before I leave town-- any thoughts on how to best set it up for a week without attention? My thought was get FB to around 30, put the cell on 80% and pray.

I live in Nashville, and liquid Chlorine is not available in the city to my knowledge, outside of bleach jugs, which is what I usually use to SLAM when needed.

Thanks for any help.

Walmart sells chlorinating liquid in outdoor section. Same for Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace Hardware, etc.
I would prepare the pool assuming the SWCG is offline. Dose with liquid to SLAM level, and add a 3-4 trichlor pucks into a floater.

If the SWCG works a bit, you’re fine. But you should also make it through the week with tabs in the floater. You could also consider raising your CYA to 70-80, which will help your FC last longer.

Slam level fc & floater full of tabs. Your cya is low anyway. Your ta is a tad low so you should bump that up a little as the tabs are acidic.
That should get you through the week even if the swg totally tanks.
Hit up Walmart for the 10% liquid chlorine (pool essentials)
Lowes, home Depot, ace hardware have it too.

Who do you have that can stop by mid week ? This is 2023 and you can FaceTime them and walk them through the powder FC test.

'Ok. See that little tub, dump a little scoop in until it turns pink......... now take the fat bottle and count the drops until clear.'

You will literally be right there with them. Then ask poolmath and have them top you back off to SLAM.

Thanks to all for the advice.

I bumped the TA a bit yesterday. I do use the "chlorinating liquid" from Lowes, which as best I understand is just strong bleach, so that is what I meant by "bleach jugs".

I have a coverstar cover, and leave the pool covered for security/safety-- never used a floater under it, can give it a try I guess, but do worry a little bit about it damaging the cover in the area proximate to the floater, as the floater probably won't move around.
