Good morning all!

You've been a great help in the past and I've scoured the website to find an answer (as well as the dreaded Google) and have not been able to find anything on this subject.

I inherited a GoldLine Aquarite SWCG with an original T-9 Cell for my pool. I've been having problems with my board telling me the water temperature is too hot and I think it's because it gets direct sun over half of the day and the temps have been in the mid-high 90's.

The Generating light just constantly blinks during the day and if I turn it to Super Chlorinate then that light blinks as well. If I check it first thing in the morning before the sun is all the way up it is producing chlorine. Unfortunately, My pool needs the T-9 Cell to run 24 hours a day to keep up with demand right now and with the way it's running it's only going about 7 or 8.

According to the manual if water temps are above 140 it produces little to no chlorine (which is what I'm facing). I have no trouble believing the direct sun temps on the salt cell are raising its temperature over that threshhold.

Could this be the problem or should I be looking somewhere else? The cell is clean and water chemistry is in check (other than low chlorine which I've been supplementing with bleach to keep it in normal levels)

Do I need to build some sort of structure around the pump/SWCG for shade or am I barking up the wrong tree?

If you need any other information please ask and thank you in advance for checking this out with me!

First, providing shade for the pool equipment is never a bad idea. I really need to do it myself

The cell temperature is reading the water temp, the sun on the cell should not have a huge impact on that. I was recently having a similar problem in that my cell temp was reporting about 20-30 degrees warmer than the actual water temperature which then results in a lower than reality salt reading. I still am not 100% sure if this is due to some in the cell going wonky or if something in the control board is messed up (I am in the middle of dealing with some problems with the board which may or may not be related to the high water temperature readings)

You could try to provide some temporary shade and see if that helps ... drape a tarp over the equipment or something like that.
