Salinity tester

Until lately I used a digital TDS meter to test my salt.

I knew about how much dissolved solids are in my well water, and deducted that from the result to get an estimate how much salt the pool contained.

Now it seems the meter starts to be inaccurate, so i have to order a new one.

I notice there are digital and optical meters, with the latter being the cheaper option.

How accurate is such an optical meter, and can it actually compared with the digital ones, or should I avoid them?

I'm not familiar with either of those meters.

Is the K-2006-Salt test kit from Taylor available in Thailand?

I doubt anything but the basic 2 tube Chlorine/pH tests are available here, but I also want to avoid liquid or test strip kits especially for something that needs to be tested so infrequently.

In case I wasn't clear in my OP, with optical meter I have a refractometer in mind.

They are available in 0 ~ 10% in Thailand, but not sure if this would be suitable for a pool.
