Sahara Dust in Filters - Southern US 2024!

I was cleaning my cartridge filter today, as I usually do every 3 or 4 weeks. Normally I get an expected amount of dirt and such. Today I got worried about a major outbreak of rust somewhere in the pool because the cartridge was a solid medium brown. It cleaned up easily enough but what the heck? Then I remembered the warnings over the past weeks and especially the last few days about the Saharan dust clouds every few days. They even discussed closing Disney World for a bit, don't know if they actually closed. Relieved it was probably that dust, not rust, but not sure what lungs have to say about it. They do warn to try to stay inside more. The color is close to the enclosed cloud map. Heavy rains seem to exacerbate the issue as it pushes the desert through my screen cage. Just mentioned in case anyone else is tempted to freak out like I almost did

Does the dust bring the heat or the heat bring the dust?

If I lived somewhere the earth went swimming more than I did, I'd strongly consider a pre-filter / cyclone for less cleanings on the big guy.
