Just got a brand new display Dolphin S50. Top cover doesnt seem to be closing very well. Any idea whats going on before i contact seller?

As you can see in the pictures the 2 latch hooks dont line up with holes and cant even reach them when applying pressure.

This always happens to me:/

Did you get it from a local pool store or internet ? Had you seen the unit in person before purchase? If its a local store just contact them if it was from an internet purchase then it may have been damaged in shipping. Either way I’m sure they will do the right thing...

Inhear they are a good company so all should be well...I would also call on Monday and leave a message if no answer.

I dont understand what the issue is.
I finally did get it to close but i cant imagine it takes that amount of force to get the clips to line up and hold. Basically itll break within a few closings. And i cant imagine someone weak or older getting it closed at all.

Does any one have and videos or commentary on how smoothly a dolphins top lid should close?

Mine closes with next to zero force to the point that I sometimes worry that it will pop open on its own.

Thank you for posting. It appears to close nicely in all the videos ive seen. Ill try to record whats going on for you guys to see. Its like the part shrunk.

I was having the same problem with mine, especially after I added the fine filter basket due to the spring loaded handle on the basket pressing up against the lid. So, I very carefully pulled the blue latch from the lid, and then, very carefully bent the two parts of the latch that connects to the lid so that the latch fits tighter to the housing. It stays closed now.

For me it doesnt even make a difference if theres a filter in it or not. The pressure require to close doesnt seem right. Basically the blue locking tabs are at least 1/4 inch or more from the holes. As i pressed down they are forced to slide lower and eventually make it into holes. When releasing they pop off like as if they were about to break.

Does anyone know if the lids from a higher or newer/older model could be just a tad smaller?

Maybe the lid was replaced with a smaller incorrect model ?

Sorry, can’t help you with that one. However, just to give you a heads up, when mine first started not staying latched I emailed Maytronics and they told me to take it back to the dealer where I purchased it and open up a repair ticket on it.

My only suggestion is to look at the pivot/hinge side of the cover. I would think that either there is a manfucturing defect in your cover or the hinge/pivot area OR the lid is not properly attached to the hinge/pivot area. Like only one side is properly snapped on or otherwise attached, which is causing the latching side of the cover to be off kilter.
