Rock Work

Tecumseh, ok
Has anyone ever notched or cut the top of the bond beam to add boulders and/or rock to your pool? I was planning on using faux rock but have switched to real rock so I have no rock shelf. I want rock to start under water and not just sit on top of beam. Any suggestions?

I would not cut into the beam, if you look how they roll the rebar over and add extra from just a single layer on the walls there has to be a reason for all the extra strength, you also have to maintain the equipotential bonding. If we are talking a single boulder or two a safer idea would be to have the underside of the rock cut in an L shape so it extends down into the water and gives the impression it is coming out of the wall when in reality it is just hanging over. One thing to consider natural rock can be porous and a good place for algae to hide but that of course depends on the type of rock you choose.
