Return Jet direction recommendation

Hey all! Helping a family member with pool maintenance. They've had a company take care of most of the maintenance but they seem to be a bit unpredictable and inconsistent with how they maintain, open and close the pool for the season. When they first opened this season, they positioned all the return jets upward (not in a circular motion). I've adjusted some of them to face upward and downward in a counterclockwise pattern but I just can't seem to get it right. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Super impose prevailing winds on the picture.

That's a good question

Mainly keeping the surface clear of debris but also ensuring counterclockwise direction is best based on the location of the skimmers.

Really depends on winds…what direction do they normally come from?

West - which is left side of the pic by pool bar.

You are fighting prevailing winds. Skimmers are best placed with their mouth facing into the prevailing winds.

Not sure that any configuration is going to overcome the wind.

Ok, thank you for the info. I'll continue to adjust and test. I noticed someone else posted about using ping pong balls to test which seems like a good idea.
