Resurfacing, the basics?

Hi y'all. It's been awhile since I've last posted, for sure. The pool chemistry has been going well, thank you everyone. I'm writing today because I've finally decided to resurface the pool. It has extensive stains as well as some rough sandpaper-like areas along the bottom.

How does the process work? Do they have to drain the pool? (I assume yes) if so, how do they keep the pool from "floating" up when the water is gone?

Also, I suspect I have some damage to the concrete (see my older posts for my water leak issues) should I expect the company that resurfaces to be able to do minor repairs to the concrete underneath? Or do they apply the new plaster and tiles on top of the current plaster and tiles?

Will they need to take down part of my screened enclosure to get the job done? I have doors on both sides- standard screen doors.

The TFP guide on plaster pools says to wait 6 hours to start refilling the pool. I assume I need to hire some kind of water tanker truck to refill the pool? The garden hoses could probably do the job running for 24-48 hours, but that would be pretty expensive.

Thank you in advance for your guidance!

Jonathan

I live in Florida like you and had my pool resurface 09/15/201 so I'll share some of my experience.

Yes pool is drained but ground water was allowed to enter back in from the floor drain. My pool company provided me with email copy of a $1 million insurance bond from Brown and Brown insurance CO. should any thing catastrophic happen.

I had several quotes and all reps said the same thing regarding leaks. The skimmer area's and pool undersurface niche lamps can be the Achilles heels when it comes to leaks. They also said it would be taken care of. NOTHING IN WRITING however.

NO, but be prepared for plaster to be mixed in your driveway or yard and wheel barreled in your lanai doorway.

By the time my plaster guys finish up they dropped a garden hose in for refill. BTW, my contractor had a form with his business info certifying that a pool at 19000 gallons was refilled and my local town water did not charge for the sewer during that time period .
One more thing I WOULD NOT RECOMMED MY CONTRACTOR so, seek out locals' who have had their pools resurfaced and are happy, To be clear my pool surface looks great, its the reconstruction of my hot tub and spillover I'M un happy with.
Good luck.

PS

PM me if you live Volusia Co. and want the name of my contractor to stay away from.
