Replace Backwash Inline Sight Glass

I have an old 1 1/2 inline site glass in the backwash line that is leaking. I see many assembly's online with the glass (plastic) already in place which would require cutting the pvc and replumbing. I don't need an entire assembly. I can loosen the 4 screws/bolts/ whatever and take the glass out. I just need the replacement glass (plastic) but I can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone have any ideas. I can send a picture if it helps.

If clear pvc pipe won't fit, maybe a clear coupling will fit.

Looks like Hayward, Pentair and CMP have sight glasses in 1.5" or 2" versions with socket or threaded models.

The glass is probably just clear schedule 40 PVC pipe.

Measure the OD and ID.

The parts are more than buying the whole assembly.

Measure the exact ID and OD required and then you should be able to find clear plastic in PVC, Acrylic or Polycarbonate.

Polycarbonate would be the preferred choice.

You can cut out the existing fitting and use 1.5" clear PVC with 2 unions.

Can you see the water after it comes out of the backwash line or hose? If so, just plumb in a piece of 1.5" PVC and watch the water as it goes from brown to white if the water is going onto the ground If this is DE and you are using a separation tank, get a new sight glass and swap the old parts for new. Or plumb in a new one. Or get the glass and new gaskets and use those. If you get a piece of clear tubing, it has to be cut completely square on both ends and be the exact length of the old glass or it will leak (which is not really a problem on a backwash line).

Thanks everyone! Many many options presented and I appreciate it! The water is shooting out of multiple cracks in the site glass when I backwash. The cracks are on one side/at the bottom only. Wondering if I can take it out and apply an epoxy to it of some sort on both the inside and outside. Might try it and will report back.

I do not want to purchase the entire assembly but that may be the best option as well.
