Renovation questions

Hello all,

Working on renovating a 24 x 36 pool (9' in the deep end)! Was looking at adding a 10x14 tanning ledge and bringing up the depth. We want a smooth finish. Current is a regular pebble finish from 13-14 years ago.
So had some questions and opinions. One contract mentioned putting in pebble and then he would sand/grind it down smoother with a diamond blade.

Tanning ledge 9 or 12" deep?
Deep end - raise it to 5' or 5'6"? My wife is 5'3" and I am 5'9" and we have small kids. The deep end gets deep fast, almost impossible to heat, and the tanning ledge is a want.
Pebble or quartz finish?
Does grinding down pebble actually make it smooth enough or cause problems later?
Any specific LED light recommendations?
Lastly, Does 32k seem high to do those things?

I like 6' for deep ends with kids. Plenty to cannonball and transition from 42 or 48" is easy. I like a 10 or 12" tanning ledge great for kids and lounging wet. I'm also a fan of good old plain plaster doesnt matter the color. If you are doing a full reno and chip out theres an average of 15k just in basic plaster and chip. Add in structural work and extras and your up there quick. I would avoid doing anything that requires grinding of a new product

I don't know what prices in Atlanta are, but here in S Florida you are looking at about 5-6k for a pebble finish, maybe 4-5k for that ledge, and it should not be more than a couple grand to fill in that deep end with rebar and gunite. 32k seems exorbitant.
