remove winterizing plate?

So I usually have someone open my pool but I am finally doing it myself. So far so good except having a small problem with something that I think should be pretty simple. I have 2 jets over my stairs that were each covered by the plate in the picture I have attached. How do I get this off?? (I did not close pool) I can't imagine it should be too difficult but I can't get it off and don't want to break anything by forcing something. It seems very hard to turn and not easy to grip either - I also tried to pry it but not sure if that is what I should be doing. Are there screws in those holes? Looks like there could be from the pic but I didn't see any unless they were angled and very hard to see or something? I yelled at it but it does not accept voice commands. Help please.

It is threaded. Unscrew it. See Google

thanks - I thought that was probably the case but couldn't tell for sure by the pics I found. Maybe I just need to get to the gym because it didn't seem to want to budge, but it was hard to get much of a grip too turn it. I'll have to give it a shot tomorrow.
