Redoing my lines and a new pump [pic included]

My pool area is still an embarrassment but I need to get it up and running due to COVID and kids being at home.

The details:
Octagonal in-ground pool. Roughly 12k gallons
4.5 feet deep in the center
3 feet deep at the edges
2 returns, 1 skimmer
I have had a leak which I can't trace so I figured I would replace all the lines now before improving the pool patio area. Right now there is black irrigation pipe that has been there for about 30 years.

Equipment:
Pump - I just purchased a Pentair 342001 SuperFlo 1.5HP variable speed.
Filter - 2 year old Hayward S220T sand filter with 250 pounds of Zeosand in it

Some questions:
1. I believe the pump is 1.5" lines. There's no reason for me to step up to 2" lines is there?
2. Should I be running separate lines out to the returns (marked in red at 12 O'clock and 9 O'clock). i.e. 2 lines for 2 returns with some sort of manifold near the pump?
3. I will be doing a paver patio around the pool and expanding it. I don't want to redo the pipes in my lifetime so I was thinking of doing hard PVC schedule 40. There are going to definitely be multiple 30 degree bends in there. Is that ok?

Any other suggestions or tidbits of advice are welcome. I am currently digging trenches and then will have a pool company out to connect the lines to the return jets.
I think the filter and the pump are definitely oversized for the pool...but the smaller stuff was mostly for above-ground and I wanted specific features that the pump and filter had.pool.jpg

  1. 1.5 pipes will be fine
  2. easy enough to lay 3 pipes in the trench running around the pool and home run each of them. Put a diverter valve on each line.
  3. Definitely schedule 40. 30 to 90 degree bends using fittings are no problem. You don’t bend the pipe. Need to plan trench route with straight pipe runs.
