Had a slow leak with teflon tape. Found Rectorseal No. 5 at Lowes and used it to seal all my threaded connections. Of course, when I was done, I saw the fine print (not recommended for use with chlorine). Should I take everything apart, clean it, and apply a different product?

Well, you may have to at some point if the chlorine breaks-down the Rectorseal. But for now if it's holding I don't see the need to rush it.

Any idea how to clean the sealant off of the fittings so that I can start over with a better product?

I would start with a small nylon or wire brush to try and remove the bulk material, then follow-up with a mineral spirits or other solvent to remove remaining residue.

I've seen other people here recommend Rectorseal T plus 2 for their pool equipment. I've used it myself and seems pretty good.
