We have repaired our stupid pool robot a number of times -- and we have gotten word back that it is no longer under warranty and will not be repaired gratis any longer.

Looking for something reliable, good customer service/warranty and do not want to spend more than $1000.

What do the cool kids at TFP recommend?

If you want a cordless robot - look at Aiper - good reviews on the forum. More expensive unit is Beatbot Aquasense.
You can just about purchase a Aiper battery robot for floor and walls then add a Betta battery operated surface skimmer robot for a combined investment of about $1000.
