We're moving to the north Houston area and will be building a pool there soon. Any recommendations for builders (or any builders to specifically avoid)?

We just finished our pool last month and started the process in February with the actual dig occuring April 1. We ended up having to contact 7 PBs just to get 3 quotes as some came out to measure but never provided a quote and others never returned our call. There are many PB in this area. Have a look at these sites: Platinum Pools, Great Escapes Custom Pools, and Regal Pools.

We live south of Houston but our PB is located on the north side of Houston(about an hour away from us). So don’t feel that you have to go with a PB just b/c they’re close by. Read reviews on Angie’s List, Houzz, BBB.org, google etc... We had a very good experience with them. There was good communication throughout the build. It’s a family run operation so they all have a vested interest in doing things well b/c their livelihoods depend on it. They took their time listening to us and answered all of my questions. Some builders took measurements and were gone in 30mins. This guy spent 2-3 hrs. at my house. He was one of the first quotes we got. I still made sure I got other quotes. In the end, we went with him b/c he listened to us, spent the most time with us, and generally just got the best gut feeling from him. He didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t ask for and he responded to all of my emails promptly. I could always get a hold of him, the office manager or our project supervisor if I needed. Feel free to read about our pool build. Just click on the link in my signature. I will pm you.
